Canada Goose-Michael Becker’s Arctic Summer

  

  At age 24, Michael is a Dive Master, Wilderness Emergency Medical Responder and avid photographer.

  Michael Becker, born and raised in Washington, DC, moved to Canada to do his BSC in Biology at McGill University; he now calls Montreal home.

  "In the years since I graduated I've spent every waking moment in the pursuit of a dream – to work on scientific expeditions in places I'd otherwise lack the opportunity to go to.' Michael Becker.

  He found himself in a tent for three months in a remote field camp of the Dry Valleys of Antarctica. After a season of studying glacial streams at 77ºS, Michael jumped at the opportunity to head to 79ºN and wor k for the McGill Arctic Research Station on Axel Heiberg Island, Nunavut. On his next field season, Michael will be doing preliminary research for his upcoming PhD. He’ll be looking at how permafrost changes due to global warming and how it affects ecosystem development.
